Method-Lab, GLOAM, Sheffield 2021
Method-Lab was an exchange project between the Studio groups of General Practice Lincoln and GLOAM Sheffield. The work that I produced for this project was a pivotal moment in my practice. What started as an endeavor to develop a timing mechanism using salvaged electronics soon became a discovery of how the sound of kinetic objects occupy a space. Since exploring the process and material I've been enlightened by the materiality of the arrangements that have come together and the sounds of the mechanical movement of the objects. This piece has lead to think more site specifically about the sounds that I introduce to a space, examining the environmental sonic behaviours and making additions based on what I could hear, being careful not to mask over existing sounds.
