Crepitare (crepitate) - To crackle, to pop, to rattle.
As part of the Urban Noise Component series, this work seeks to address the infrastructures of sonic constructs; looking at the individual components of noise as reference for curated spaces and compositions. These sculptures are directly referential to location recordings, and there is a direct aesthetic connection to the locational specificity of recordings, using objects found on site to generate sculptural forms referential to the materiality of place. The prevalent theme throughout this series of is to respond to recorded sounds rather than integrate it, drawing influence from the recording to inform a synthesis of environments.
